Celebrating Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. In honor of this month, Voices Carry Child Advocacy Center is celebrating stories like Sammy’s (see below) while also reflecting on the work that remains. Voices Carry strives to eliminate child abuse in Larimer and Jackson Counties. Child abuse occurs in our community with greater frequency than most people realize. National studies estimate that one in ten children will be victims of child sexual abuse by age 18, unless we decide to make it zero in ten.

When communities come together to support children and families, we all benefit. Just one person has the power to make a difference in a child’s life. Be the difference for a child by supporting these Child Abuse Prevention Month Efforts:

After the Call: What happens after you report child sexual abuse or assault?

Wednesday, April 12 from 4-5:30 p.m.

Voices Carry is hosting a panel discussion with local experts to help child-serving professionals understand what happens AFTER they make a report to child protection.

K99’s 28 Hours of Hope

Thursday, April 13 at 5 a.m. to Friday, April 14 at 9 a.m.

Tune into K99 Colorado’s New Country’s Good Morning Guys as they host 28 Hours of Hope, a radiothon to help raise money for the treatment and prevention of child abuse in Northern Colorado.
