“Julia” is a sweet young girl who has tried her best to survive in a home where survival was easy for a child. Growing up with two parents who were addicted to methamphetamine, Julia experienced extreme neglect beginning at a young age.
Child protection brought Julia to Voices Carry for a forensic interview. During the interview, Julia talked about the continuing physical and sexual abuse that she had endured at home, as well as the neglect which had forced her into survival mode. Due in large part to this interview, Julia’s parents were both convicted for child abuse and illegal drug use.
While in foster care, Julia had a nanny in one of her homes. She closely bonded with the nanny who was trying to get pregnant at this time. Julia and her nanny were a match made in heaven, and her nanny soon decided to adopt her. Despite the impacts of the abuse and neglect that Julia had experienced, she is now in a home where she can begin to heal and live a more typical and healthy life with a loving family.
